Position Summary:
Supervises and facilitates direct and/or indirect, safe and effective professional nursing care in assigned department. Accountable for nursing practice and delivery of quality patient care in a cost-effective manner. Provides nursing care to a patient population ranging from infant to geriatric. Assumes 24-hour accountability of departmental operations. Encourages professional education and acts as a teacher/consultant to the department.
Position Education/Qualifications:
1. Current licensure in the State of Georgia
2. BSN preferred
3. Minimum of three years as a staff registered nurse and one year experience as a nurse manager in an acute care hospital, or evidence of recent education in management theory.
4. Successful completion of nursing service orientation program
5. Certification in intravenous therapy within 90 days
6. Attends ARW and completes yearly competency checklist
7. Demonstrates competence in:
Effective communication
Decision making
Problem solving
Knowledge of general nursing theories and practice
Counseling
Teaching
Practice of participative management
Fiscal planning
8. Maintains competency and/or certification specific to department requirements: CPR, ACLS
