Job Description
Performs a variety of sonographic examinations relating to high-risk OB patients. Expectations also include assisting the radiologist and/or perinatologist during invasive procedures. Makes a clinical judgement of the patient?s condition, based on information obtained from the referring physician, medical records, patient interview and personal assessments.

Satisfactory completion of a formal Ultrasound training program. Meets the requirements for registry by ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers).

RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) in OB/GYN required. Must be certified for performing Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound. If new graduate, must become registered in OB/GYN and NT certified within 1 year of hire date. BLS certified.

Minimum one year experience as an ultrasound technologist; however two years are preferred, with one year of high-risk OB experience.

Must possess the understanding and ability to follow MD protocols for procedures. Understands and effectively operates all pieces of equipment utilized within the scope of this job.

Must keep current with continuing education to maintain RDMS. Must maintain CPR certification and attend applicable hospital in-services.
