Description
Under indirect supervision, collects and compiles data. Conducts research. Handles vast range of advanced administrative duties and processes. Receives and effectively triages phone calls. Proofs and transcribes confidential medical reports. Distributes and archives mail and designated materials. Assigns, sorts and accessions specimens received into pathology and assigns to appropriate pathology workflow. Assists in setting up meetings; maintains appointments, administrative filing, and calendars for Laboratory Manager and Pathology Chief. Creates communication drafts on behalf of Laboratory Chief and Administrator. Demonstrates sufficient knowledge, skills, an abilities in pathology systems, processes, and terminology. Serves as training resource for clerical staff. Essential Functions: Collects and compiles data; conducts research; prepares statistical reports and coordinates projects Proofs medical reports generated via voice recognitive dictation Assists in preparation of special document reports concerning: data information, collection, compilation of findings, and transcribed material utilizing spreadsheets, graphics, database software and pathology and laboratory operating systems; prints and/or distributes information according to established policy; maintains printer (i.e. changes ink/toner cartridges, ribbons, daisy wheels) and changes paper according to document type Sorts and accessions specimens received into pathology and assigns to appropriate pathologist's workflow Assists in setting up meetings; maintains appointment calendars for department, Laboratory Manager, and Chief of Pathology; offers reminders accordingly Establishes and maintains administrative filing for Chief and Laboratory Manager Operates with some degree of latitude for independent judgment and initiative; handles vast range of advanced administrative duties; creates communication drafts on behalf of Laboratory Chief and Administrator Assists in monitoring and evaluating work performance and training of clerical staff, as applicable Demonstrates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities in pathology systems, processes, and terminology Routes and delivers documents according to established routine and destination; records identifying material such as patient name, dictator, destination, ect.; maintains log of completed work and submits daily at end of shift; identifies patients and enters documents in log; orders and maintains supplies to assure adequate inventory; contacts vendor when maintenance or repair services are needed; addresses and mails outgoing routine requests for patient information Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: Six months of medical transcription experience Post high school education and completion of medical terminology coursework Trained in the use of transcription equipment, office machines and word processor software (including typing, 10 key, PC skills,) Must type 60 wpm accurately, quickly, and over extended period. Knowledge of spelling and grammar Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, change management, customer service, interpersonal relations, oral communication, teamwork, and written communication Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, multimedia presentations, spreadsheet, and database PC application Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English Training/giving and receiving instructions Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration and alertness Preferred Qualifications: Six months of pathology experience Two years of anatomic pathology and/or laboratory information systems experience Two years of office administration or secretarial experience Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field Anatomy helpful Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) Primary Location : Hawaii-Honolulu-Hospital/Medical Offices 3288 Moanalua Rd.
