JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the management and administration of the Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant practice within the institute. Provides liaison functions between Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, staff physicians, administration, other departments and external groups. Communicates and collaborates with the Directors of APN/PA services for updates in Midlevel guidelines and policies. Attends inservices provided by Directors of APN/PA services as required. Clinical supervision and annual review of the Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants will be done by the supervising/collaborating physicians and the APN/PA manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner/physician assistant program. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with all members of the Institute and other Cleveland Clinic employees at all levels. Ability to lead and work with groups to manage the group process and to use facilitative skills.

Minimum three years experience working as a nurse practitioner/physician assistant. Must have management/leadership experience with demonstrated competency of clinical skills and techniques. APN: must be a Registered Nurse with current licensure by the State of Ohio Board of Nursing; must be certified by a Certification Board recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing; must be certified by the American Nurse Credentialling Center. A "Certificate to Prescribe" is also required.

PA: graduate of an ARC-PA-approved Physician Assistant Program. Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or 10 years clinical practice as a PA with licensure in Ohio before Dec. 31, 2007; eligible to apply for licensure to prescribe from the OSMB. Must have an Ohio license to practice as a PA before Dec. 31, 2007 if do not have a Master's Degree in PA Studies. Current certification as a Physician Assistant. Must have approved Physician Supervision Agreement (listed on OSMB website). Must be privileged by Cleveland Clinic's Credentialing Board. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Requires extensive walking, sitting and stair climbing. Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
