POSITIONS LOCATED IN CENTRAL AND SOUTH TUCSON, AZ 

 

 

Depending on your experience and qualifications, you can be considered to join our Patient Services team working at a Patient Service Centers (PSC), as In Office Phlebotomist (IOP) or as a Float Phlebotomist providing support to PSCs or IOPs within a specific geographic area.

 

A Patient Service Center is an outpatient facility, usually located in a medical office building, which serves patients who need laboratory testing.

An IOP is a location where one (or more) phlebotomist is stationed within a physician or client office and performs duties related to drawing, processing, and submitting specimens for only that client to the laboratory.

  • Performs specimen collection, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity by using appropriate techniques for all age criteria as required.
  • Enters and verifies patient demographics, location, physician data, tests requested, time and date of collection, appropriate clinical information, and all other pertinent data found on requisitions as required for processing and billing. Verifies accuracy of entered information. Verifies appropriateness of specimens received.
  • Communicates courteously and professionally with internal and external customers. Interacts with co-workers with an emphasis on teamwork and a focus on customer service. Resolves basic service issues as necessary.
  • Aliquots and labels specimens according to established departmental procedures and practices, delivers specimens to the technical area in a timely manner and/or performs initial processing and preparation of samples for transport.


  • Previous experience of at least six months in a clinical laboratory setting or completion of a phlebotomy school.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18. Must exhibit a high level of personal maturity and responsibility.
  • Good reading, writing and math abilities are required. Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to understand written and spoken instructions in English.
  • Good organizational skills are also required. Basic knowledge of department resource materials.  Basic computer skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Float position employees must be able to work all PSC or Client Office shift times within their designated territory.
