Full-time position ~ 64-72 hours per pay period

Hours: 10 and 12 hour shifts (10:00am-6:00pm, 7:00am-7:30pm and 7:00pm-7:30am) along with an every other weekend and holiday rotation.

This position is a dual role between the Patient Care Tech and Patient Support Rep roles depending on the needs of the department. Your every other weekend rotation will be that of the PSR role and the other times as needed.

Patient Care Tech - Performs basic patient care services and supports activities of the patient care unit. Patient Care Technicians are multi skilled to provide expanded bedside services under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Patient Care Technicians have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients from adolescence through geriatrics. The 6000 patient population includes, but not limited to; medical patients, such as diabetes and digestive disorders, surgical patients such as urology and eye (retinal procedures) and hematology and cancer patients. This position may have access to medications for purposes of distribution to licensed personnel.

Job Knowledge and Skills: Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical equipment/supplies preferred. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Patient Support Rep - This role supports the work of the patient unit by performing various tasks related to the material/physical support of the unit. These include, but are not limited to, routine housekeeping, supply management, and patient transport. The Patient Support Representative has a knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of adolescence through geriatric patients. The 6000 patient population includes, but not limited to; medical patients, such as diabetes and digestive disorders, surgical patients such as urology and eye (retinal procedures) and hematology and cancer patients. This position may have access to medication storage areas in order to stock secured items.

When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
Required Skills

High school diploma or equivalent desired. Certification from a vocational program for nursing assistant or phlebotomy desirable.
