Department: Optical Services Bench Department

Schedule: Full-Time Regular, 40Hrs/Week, Night Shift: Mon, Tues, Wed, & Fri: 10:30pm-7:00am; Thur: 9:30pm-6:00am

Education/Licensure/Certification: High School Diploma/GED .

Qualifications:

  •          Four (4) years optical benchroom experience.

  •          Must be able to pass standard color blindness test.

  •          Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  •          Ability to write simple correspondence.

  •          Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  •          Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment. Also refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.

    Duties:

    A Benchperson is one engaged in one or all of the following operations in connection with glass or plastic spectacle lenses:

  •          Lineup

  •          Drilling

  •          Machine or hand edging

  •          Inserting or mounting lenses

  •          Dyeing and soldering

  •          Inspecting completed work

    Inspects glasses for the purposes of ascertaining whether the glasses or parts thereof upon completion conform to established mechanical and prescption standards.

    Performs other related duties as necessary.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
