Pediatric RN - Operating Room

This staff RN position in the Operating Room is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for planning and implementing perioperative patient care. The staff RN provides care to patients utilizing the nursing process and coordinates care and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team members. Some of the job responsibilities include:

•  Provide direct patient care according to PCMC/departmental standards utilizing the nursing process, technical skills and theoretical understanding pertinent to patient populations served to ensure quality patient care.
•  Demonstrate critical thinking skills based on sound clinical judgement, PCMC standards and patient assessment to intervene and advocate on the patient's behalf.
•  Utilize patient equipment, supplies and department resources in a cost efficient manner according to PCMC/department standards to facilitate attainment of PCMC financial goals. 
• Perform sponge and sharp counts according to PCMC OR Count Policy to account for all items used and ensure patient does not retain foreign body.
• Deliver to sterile field and monitor intra-operative medications (excluding anesthetic or analgesic agents given per anesthesiologist) utilizing the "five rights" and PCMC OR Medication Practice policy to ensure safe administration of medication.
•  Recognize emergent patient conditions and implement appropriate interventions based on patient assessment and principles of pediatric resuscitation (refer to PCMC OR Code Skill) in order to prevent and/or minimize compromise/injury to deteriorating patients.

This position is full-time, 40 hours a week. 

Must have a current license as a Registered Nurse which allows you to practice in the state of Utah, or be license eligible.  Requires a minimum of one year RN experience or work experience in the OR.  BLS Certification required.

Strongly Prefer RN candidates with OR experience or pediatric OR experience..
