Description

Performs first assistant responsibilities in accordance with the state scope of practice requirements.  Assesses the patient preoperatively and develops a nursing care plan based on the assessment.  Assists in positioning, skin preparation and draping of the patient.  Provides hemostasis and wound exposure, handles tissues appropriately to reduce the potential for injury, sutures tissues and applies dressings to the wound under the direction of the surgeon.  Uses surgical instruments skillfully in ways consistent with their design and purpose.  Must be willing to work as a staff nurse in the OR if not needed as an RNFA.  Assists in transporting the patient postoperatively.  Communicates information to the PACU.  Call required.
Qualifications

Current CA RN license.  Minimum 3 years or peri-operative nursing experience in both scrub and circulating role.  CNOR certified.  Successfully completed the RNFA program and internship.  CRNFA certification desired.  BCLS.  ACLS preferred.  Current malpractice.
