OverView:
Under the immediate supervision of the Head of the Research Center or Laboratory, with moderate to full latitude for independent decision making within limits delegated by Head, the Research Associate II performs complex laboratory procedures. Under the direction of the Head, may be delegated as lead personnel for other associate staff. The person in this position must be trained and capable of performing laboratory protocols, interpreting scientific data, writing laboratory reports and have skills necessary to coordinate laboratory team experiments

Responsibilities:
1. Perform various laboratory tests in accordance with standard practice.2. Write up laboratory test results based on interpretation of scientific data.3. Proficient in the knowledge and use of appropriate lab equipment and procedures.4. Lead person, with limited latitude, for direction of other laboratory associate staff.5. Responsible for maintaining current laboratory knowledge.6. Assist Principal Investigator with development of protocols and compilation of data for manuscripts and grants.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:This position requires knowledge as normally obtained through a B.S. degree and 3-6 years laboratory experience or Master's degree with 1-4 years experience. Must have excellent decision-making and problem solving skills. Incumbent must maintain absolute confidentiality regarding specimens and the findings associated with the laboratory functions. Ability to communicate sufficiently to perform duties in a manner consistent with departmental scope of services and standards. Must be able to maintain good rapport with departmental personnel.
