Description

The RN Team Leader assumes a lead role, in collaboration w/ a clinician partner, to assist in the development of a high functioning self-directed team. He/she practices & demonstrates skills that foster professional commitment of the team members to function to their level of licensure & training make care decisions & assume accountability for providing high quality & timely health care which support Kaiser Permanente's mission, vision & values.

Essential Functions:
:
Leadership & Professional Competencies
o Practices clinical & team building leadership skills
o Participates in the hiring, training & evaluating process
o Coordinates communication flow w/in the team, w/ other local departments & regionally & nationally
o Identifies, addresses & monitors scope of practice issues & takes action leading to processes for resolution
o Evaluates & prioritizes, w/ workgroup, staffing needs on a daily basis & collaborates w/ manager/staffing specialist to resolve issues
o Collaborates w/ physician leadership & team to design & facilitate workflow processes (e.g. demand management such as access, referrals, waitlists, etc.)
o Demonstrates personal commitment to service & to socially relevant practice
o Demonstrates & models ethical & legal behavior in all professional activities
o Adheres to & assists in monitoring team's adherence to Health Insurance
o Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), confidentiality policies & Principles of Responsibility (POR)
Clinical Competencies
o Provides clinical expertise & professional nursing leadership & to support the health care team in meeting the needs of the patient
o Understands & participates in population based care activities which are supported by an interdisciplinary health care team
o Maintains & monitors a safe & therapeutic environment for patients, clinicians & staff
o Demonstrates personal proficiency in using computer-based information & practice management systems for decision support & provision of care
Organizational Competencies
o Demonstrates knowledge of & facilitates national & regional strategic initiatives at the local level
o Demonstrates leadership in applying the principles & tools of the Labor-Management Partnership
Physical Requirements
Employees are required to follow all prescribed safety precautions & procedures in order to avoid accidents or exposure to illness

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of two years acute care or ambulatory care/clinical setting w/in the last 5 years.
Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
High school diploma or GED
Demonstrates experience in clinical, leadership & team building skills
Required license, registration, certification or professional affiliation:
Current RN license in state of Oregon or Washington
Current BLS w/AED Certification upon hire & to continue employment
Able to type 20 words per minute
Demonstrates effective interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, time & conflict management skills
Willingness to learn computerized information systems
Demonstrates commitment to customer focused care
Demonstrates ability to work w/in multidisciplinary teams & w/in a dynamic work environment
Completion of Kaiser Permanente LMP Training prior to or upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:
Current or future bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
Previous experience in mentoring & coaching clinical staff
