This position will be responsible for the provisions of drug therapy and pharmaceutical education to the customers under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The services must be that of the highest quality, cost effective and delivered in an efficient and professional manner.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Makes delivery and pickup rounds to nursing units, as required.
- Fill medication orders for checking by a pharmacist and tubes/delivers to nursing unit after R.Ph. Checking.
- Processes discharges and transfers (i.e. Cart fill, pickup and credit discharge meds IV: Techs.
- Processes IV's, Chemo's, and TPN's.
- Reconciles IV's, Chemo's, and TPN's.
- Restocks work area. Cart Set Tech:
- Set daily medication carts for RPh checking, and then delivers med. carts after R.Ph. checking.
- Repackaging of non-unit dose medications Central:
- Generate Computer Reports and delivers reports to nursing units.
- Process specialty drug boxes e.g. L&D boxes General:
- Check assigned areas for expiration date.
- Maintains a neat and clean work area
- Ensures inventory control and formulary maintenance
- Is able to articulate departmental PI/QC activities.
Requires High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Requires National Technician Certification and/or TSBP registry.
Prefer ACPE IV Sterile Products certification
Prefer 1 -2 years hospital experience or internship at school or hospital.
Proficient in aseptic techniques & IV preparation.
Minimum typing skills (20 wpm), ability to troubleshoot machines typically associated with the practice of Aseptic Technique.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
