JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Power Plant Supervisor the Power Plant Mechanic assists with the following:
Daily Rounds. Pneumatic control equipment. Standby emergency generator and transfer equipment
Chillers, Cooling Towers, Fans, Pumps, etc. Millwright/Machinist duties. Troubleshoot and advise on system malfunctions and operational requirements. Interact with in-house Mechanical Engineer and/or
outside contractor to verify problems and initiate corrections. Service electric motors. Respond to Power Plant emergency calls. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of four year apprenticeship for Machinist, Electrician, HVAC Tech/Refrigeration, Stationary
Engineer, or Plumber/Pipe-Fitter or knowledge obtained through four years of on the job training
experience as a mechanic. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and other schematics. Also must be
able to produce sketches of existing systems. Minimum three years experience in the following areas: large
water distribution systems (chilled and hot water), cooling towers, air handling systems, building
automation equipment and emergency generators. Typical physical demands require full body motion
including ability to perform work while bending, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders; requires dexterity
and strength sufficient to operate required tools and machinery; typically required to lift and carry
machinery and/or equipment weighing 25-100 lbs. and/or assist with lifting weights exceeding 100 lbs.
Requires color acuity sufficient to distinguish color-coded wiring and piping.
