Job Description:
 

The focus of this position will be to plan and direct the outpatient programs for the Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens (MSHQ); to supervise quality improvement and utilization initiatives in the ambulatory care setting; and to act as attending-of-record for a panel of internal medicine patients in the outpatient setting.

*As a partner with the Administrative Director of Ambulatory Services, will have oversight responsibility for the smooth functioning of the outpatient services at the Physician Associates and Family Health Centers of MSHQ.

*Function as an expert iaison between the hospital and additional outpatient practices that may be incorporated into the hospital network. Provide direction to Hospital in evaluating potential new practices and provide oversight in driving improvements if practices are incorporated. Establish mechanism for assessing and evaluating practice activity on a regular basis.

*Recruit, interview and recommend hiring of physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners for outpatient practices as needed, and oversee their performance and appraisal process, as appropriate.

*Be responsible for the ambulatory care budget pertaining to physicians and physician extenders.

*Oversee ambulatory-based quality of care, performance improvement, and utilization of resource initiatives rendered by the medical staff in the outpatient setting, including modeling and implementing "best practices." Work collaboratively with other members of medical team to enhance medical care.

*Help drive smooth adoption and implementation of computerized systems for medical staff in outpatient settings.

*Participate in various hospital committees, including P&T, Ethics, PIC, etc.

*Build and maintain strong relationships with the voluntary medical staff.

*Other responsibilities as directed by the Chief Medical Officer.
*Must qualify for an academic appointment at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Job Qualifications:
 

*Board Certification in Internal Medicine
*At least 5 years ambulatory care internal medicine experience
*At least 3-5 years of progressive administrative experience, including quality and utilization initiatives
*Strong written and verbal skills
*Team Player
*Excellent interpersonal skills
*Strong leadership skills
*Current New York State license
