Job Description:
 

Part-time interviewer position available at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. A new NIH epidemiologic study aimed to measure changes in food access and physical activity resources over a 4-year period and the effect on the health status of seniors has been initiated. Participants will be recruited from Senior Centers located in selected areas of Brooklyn, NY.

Looking for interviewer to work with study coordinator and be responsible for data collection from individuals and from the local neighborhood environments. Interviewer will collect information from seniors on medical histories, diet, physical activity and other information at selected senior centers in Brooklyn. Interviewer will be trained for specific types of data collection (i.e. dietary recall) and will be stationed at the recruitment sites accordingly. Interviewers will be responsible for making sure data collected is confidential, complete and stored with the study coordinator at the end of each recruitment day.

Interviewer will also be asked to survey food stores and audit neighborhood environment for barriers to physical activity for seniors. Interviewer will be trained for the environmental sampling as well.
Successful applicant must be available weekday morning hours (7:30 am - 1:30 pm), at least two days per week and must be willing to travel to Brooklyn for the data collection with Seniors. The hours for the environmental surveys are more flexible. Successful candidate should demonstrate they can work in a research team environment and must be available at least 12 hours per week. Positions may increase to 20 hours per week as needed. Candidates with: interest in the research topic; ability to commit at least one year to the project; and/or fluency in Spanish are desirable.
