Job Description:
 
The Business Consulting Specialist, National Revenue Cycle Partnership and Integration position based in Oakland, CA is responsible for the analysis/evaluation of policies, business and/or system process and functional requirements, development of business cases, business requirements and process flows, and various additional business client support activities during system development and implementation. Develops relationships with upstream and downstream business partners. Develops/maintains and recommends changes to business processes, and understands the business processes of associated partners and how they relate to our functional areas.  This role will provide subject matter expertise throughout the Revenue Cycle, analysis and deliverables development to support National Revenue Cycle Partnerships and Integration initiatives.  Initial focus for this role will be to develop and launch national policies, including significant regional and national stakeholder involvement and reviews, development of regional management toolkits, and assisting regions in determining implementation action plans.  The role will also partner with various national and regional groups to monitor the progress of policy implementations.
 
Essential Functions: 
  • Directs the analysis of enterprise-wide or very complex client needs in project areas such as new/existing business operating models, innovative approaches to solutions support, market research of emerging or available industry standards or capabilities, and operational readiness assessment. Conduct the analysis of current business processes and systems functionality. Prepares appropriate documentation to communicate and validate the information.
  • Directs the development of comprehensive and strategic business cases with cost/benefit dimensions of proposed projects that are used at management and executive levels for funding and scope decisions. 
  • Direct accountability for development of deliverables, such as policy provision content, training and communications materials, business requirements, and user-acceptance testing while collaborating with multiple stakeholders and other subject matter experts across the organization.
  • Accountable for tracking, monitoring and reporting results of actualization of benefits to senior management.            
  • Provides advice and input into the project plan and identifies and coordinates with program/project managers and implements schedule deadlines as appropriate.  
  • Influences the development of the functional and company objectives.
  • Chooses, recommends, creates and/or adopts techniques, standards and methodologies to KP standards/methodologies and in alignment with industry-standard and compliance guidelines.
  • Establishes relationships with supervisors, peers and project members to obtain necessary resources and gain support in project delivery.
  • Builds relationships across the organization to gain buy-in and move initiatives forward.
  • Able to position an initiative or change effort in order to enhance its likelihood for success and calls upon others to use their relationships to drive them forward.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 
  • At least 10 years professional experience, to include three or more years in a Consulting role.
  • 5 Years experience in Healthcare provider-side environment with specific focus on Revenue Cycle expertise, preferably a comprehensive understanding of the continuum of front (patient access), middle (CDM, Documentation, Coding, Charge Capture) and back (billing and collections) functions.
  • Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration or related discipline is required
  • Experienced in influencing multiple cross-functional and/or multiple cross divisional task forces to identify and document functional requirements, workflow, information sources and system/process specifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of platforms of the assigned functional areas and multiple cross functionally based on assignment.
  • Qualified candidates must have the following skills:

    • Problem solving skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • The position requires up to 25% travel to any of the KP regions.  Must be able and willing to travel 25% of the time.
  • The position is based in Oakland, CA.  Must be able to work in Oakland, CA offices 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Advanced degrees in related disciplines are preferred.
  • 5+ years working in a role of influence/persuasion and collaboration at a regional or national level within a health care provider-side system.
  • Preferred certification or advanced qualification by third party association that matches the function or field applicable to the business discipline (such as HFMA, AHIP, HIAA, Medical/Hospital Coding, Masters of Healthcare Administration)
