Job Description:
 

Mount Sinai has affiliations with numerous area medical centers that represent an increasing resource of research partnerships and research participates. This tremendous portfolio of ethnically, racially and disease-diverse medical centers and faculty have allowed and will continue to contribute to increasing clinical and translational research at MSMC and in the community.

The candidate will be expected to:
* Interact with these affiliations and partnerships since they reflect a tremendous diversity of patient populations and areas of expertise. This will include travel and attending meetings at the Bronx VA, Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, Mount Sinai Hospital Queens, North General Hospital in Central Harlem, Maimonides in Brooklyn, and other various community hospitals in New Jersey.
* Develop patient education materials (treatment-specific and general support materials) across the research continuum to facilitate ease of use by research coordinators/investigators when working with patients that can also be made available to clinicians and health educators within the community.
* Assist PI in developing a full-fledged recruitment plan that proposes print media, radio and TV advertising where possible to ensure that it is translated for the targeted patient populations.
* Prepare powerpoint presentations to be made to clinicians and subject populations and identify venues for the presentation.
* Liaison for the CTSA collaborative programs on patient recruitment and education
* Serve as the institutional liaison with the Research Match network, a project of the CTSA consortium
* Provide support to investigators to identify recruitment strategies and retention planning by identifying appropriate clinical populations.
* Tracking and evaluate outcome and progress of support services.
* Ensure that research projects avoid unnecessary exclusions, define a population than can be readily recognized and minimize barriers to participation.
* Initiate exploration of satellite sites for additional recruitment and identify relevant consortia and cooperative groups in specific disease areas to maximize trial enrollment in a timely manner by developing a well defined entry criteria, a feasible recruitment plan and operationalized outcome measures.
* Provide insight and direction in addressing important safety questions in collaboration with the research subject advocate, DSMP, and bioethics advisory service.
* Participate in the Community Engagement and Research Programs and interact with leadership from the Centers for Community and Academic Research Partnerships to provide advice during protocol review, adding more convenient research sites and improving the facilities and resources to enhance the experience of research participants.
* Liaison for the PCIR Without Boarders initiatives
* In collaboration with the office of grants and contract and the IRB, support registration of all projects with external agencies such as clinicaltrials.gov to ensure that discoveries are made available to the community on the widest possible bases.
* Update and maintain the Mount Sinai Website for Clinical Trials posting in collaboration with the PI and IRB.
* Interact with other institutes and/or centers within the MSICTS

Job Qualifications:
 

*Bachelor in Arts, Science, Communications or Education; Masters preferred
*Bilingual in Spanish
*Excellent computer skills with powerpoint and other programs required to develop education materials
*Willing to travel within the tri-state area when necessary
*Experience in the field of clinical research and/or health care
*Excellent creative writing, organization and communication skills are mandatory.
*Team player and willing to collaborate with others within the community.
