UNIT SECRETARY/HUC - CARDIOLOGY - FT, 3PM - 11PM

The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) is responsible for maintaining communication networks related to patient care activities, and processing patient care information of pediatric through geriatric stage patients on the nursing unit.  Accountability includes preparation, transcription and recording of information and materials for patient care and for the medical records of patients assigned to the unit.  The HUC communicate with patients, families, visitors, and staff.  He/she is responsible for prompt and cheerful assistance to all individuals seeking information, facilitating communication both intra and inter-departmental.  Accuracy, completeness and timeliness, as well as confidentiality are expected.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:  

Minimum:  One year clerical or related experience preferably in a hospital setting

Desired:  Certification as well as experience in reading, interpreting, and writing medical terminology

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: 

Good computer skills, the ability to anticipate informational needs and organize/prioritize data, and the ability to work with limited supervision.  Good interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
