Greets, instructs, directs patients

1 Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
2. Checks in patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the computer; notifies Registration Coordinator immediately if registration/insurance verification has not been obtained prior to appointment.
3. Prepares patient electronic-charts for the following day which includes printing all “new patient” documentation as well as updating information for “established patients”, checking for unscanned or missing intake forms, notifying feral coordinator if referral is missing but required; obtain workers’ compensation information and attaches appropriate forms to patient charts.
4. Answers incoming phone calls directed to front desk.
5. Screens visitors and responds to routing requests for information, etc.
6. Handles patient check out, collecting co-pays and making return appointments
7. Keeps a daily collection sheet of all co-pays and totals cash, checks, and credit cards at the end of each day. Copies all checks and collection sheet for billing; responsible for reconciliation of daily receivables.
8. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties, i.e., obtaining wheelchairs, etc.
9. Maintains waiting room (coffee and magazines) in neat and orderly fashion
10. Retrieves all workers’ compensation return-to-work forms from W/C patients on a daily basis and sends to W/C Department
11. When on call doctor is seeing patients, constant updating of schedule and making of new patients’ charts is required
12. Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information
13. Assists front desk team with daily tasks as necessary




Qualifications/Requirements:
1. Knowledge of basic business office procedures; knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information. Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine. Excellent customer service skills required to greet patients and answer phones in a pleasant and helpful manner; ability to speak clearly and concisely. Must be able to multi-task. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.

Education/Training/Experience:
1. Minimum education required: high school diploma
2. Minimum 1 year experience as front desk coordinator in a health care organization to include basic knowledge of insurance plans, coverages and procedures.
