Job Description
 

Full-time position 72-80 hours per pay period.

Hours: Rotating 8 and 12 hour shifts with an every other weekend and holiday rotation.

The Pulmonary Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides non-clinical support services to patient care areas. They perform reception duties and clerical tasks and must have strong verbal communication skills. Will be expected to do transcription of orders and will require using the phone, basic computer keyboarding skills, and other clerical skills. Must work collaboratively with other health care team members and demonstrate effective customer service skills. This position may have access to medications for purposes of distribution to licensed personnel.

Job Knowledge and Skills: Must have good interpersonal skills, must have good command of the English language, must know medical terminology, organizational policies and procedures. Requires knowledge of supplies and medical equipment. Requires use of multi-line telephone system, fax and copy machines, pneumatic system, computer and paging systems. Word processing skills will be necessary. Requires ability to do detailed work correctly, function under and handle stress. Refer to General HUC Self Assessment/Orientation for job specific skills.

When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
Required Skills

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience with clerical/business services, communications equipment, and computer entry are desirable but not essential. HUC/secretarial training preferred.
