Job Description:
 

Position calls for a professional person who will interact with patients, clinical staff and payers daily. Responsible for the Financial Screening and Counseling process for the Hospital Based (article 28) and Physician Components for the Cancer Center. Must work in a minimum of three days out (business); for all screenings of financial information.

Ensuring all required demographic, financial, referral/authorization and clinical and other registration data is collected, verified and communicated appropriately.

1. Responsible for the Insurance Verification for all Outpatient Cancer Encounters. This verification is for the hospital and physician.

2. Referral coordination, pre-certification, pre-authorization and benefit screening for Cancer Center. Maintain updates of outcome through multiple systems.

3. Responsible for the drug authorizations and financial verifications. Responsible for tracking authorization counts and re-authorizing.

4. Responsible for notification to patients on all out of pocket expenses. Must assist patients with any state/federal assistance programs to help cover Cancer costs.

5. Utilizes various eligibility systems and websites to obtain benefits, must be able to interpret all coding. Call various payers and physician offices to obtain authorizations, benefits and referrals.

6. Ensures that all required demographic, financial, referral/authorization and clinical and other registration data is collected, verified, inputted and communicated appropriately.

7. Responsible for providing in advance to registration all patient payment responsibilities before scheduled visits. These payment responsibilities are for both the hospital and physician.

8. Coordination activities with specific physician offices, service sites and ancillary departments.

9. Responsible for Financial Counseling and Customer Service for inquires made by patients, physicians, payers and clinical staff. These inquiries can be in regards to coverage, benefits, payment plans, outstanding multiple bills and any other assistance. Responsible to seek Federal and State assistance.

10. Cross-trained to support all aspects of this unit.

11. Schedule can vary to meet the needs of the Cancer Center.

12. Special projects as assigned by Manager and Associate Director.

Job Qualifications:
 

High School Diploma or GED. - Associate Degree preferred

Hospital or business office experience or patient accounts preferred.

Knowledge of health insurance payers or billing preferred.
Cancer Hospital/Physician experience a plus.

Microsoft Word and Excel. On-Trac, TRAC, Eagle 2000, Cerner,
