Job Description:
 

This position does the billing for WTC Treatment Program in New York. The program has 4 locations, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and Yonkers. Responsibilities include generating claims and invoices for patient encounters and accounts receivable. Understanding The State of New York Workers Compensation System is essential. Periodic on site billing at satellite clinics may be required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Review patient charts and prepare claims and invoices. This includes working with the medical staff to ensure the proper information is provided, charge entry, payment posting, review of EOB's and the requisite follow-up with payors to ensure accurate claims adjudication.
2. Communication and education provided to patients. Meet with each new patient that has a workers compensation case established by the physician. This discussion includes how to navigate the workers compensation system and advise them of the steps necessary for filing. This frequently leads to follow-up discussions with the patient to provide clarity.
3. Reporting. Responsibility for the generation of timely and ad-hoc financial reports. This includes the accounts receivable from our payers, the number of patients seen for each grants and contract that resides within the 2 clinical programs, and identifying opportunities to generate incremental revenue by prioritizing where our accounts receivable resources can be deployed.
4. Review of FPA and Sponsored Programs Accounting reports. To ensure the clinical programs are credited with all payments generated, review of the reports from accounting and compares them to the EOB's received so a claim can be made into the Mount Sinai unclaimed cash fund.

Job Qualifications:
 

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Minimum 3 years experience
2. Knowledge of workers compensation system
3. Skills/Abilities. Business acumen, procedure and diagnosis codes
4. Knowledge of IDX Billing, On Base and E-Rap billing software a plus.
