Job Summary:
The HIM Coding Supervisor will:

• 
  Interact with all levels of management within the system, from the corporate CFO and COO to individuals in other departments in the hospital regarding codes and coding audits, as well as request for reports based on coding data.
  
• 
  Work closely with physicians and physician advisor to insure CPT-4 and ICD-9-CM coding accuracy and completeness in order to optimize reimbursement.
  
• 
  Review sampling of coded medical records for quality of coding and coordinate continuing education to maintain expertise of coding staff.
  
• 
  Review Bill Alert report daily and LoG-91 lists monthly to insure all records are coded in a timely manner to decreases accounts-receivable days.
  
• 
  Review all code/DRG changes made by peer review organization and prepare appropriate response/appeal/follow-up when justified.
  
• 
  Review all coding changes suggested by the Blue Cross reviewer and appeal changes when appropriate.
  
• 
  Review all Medicare and other remittance advices to insure DRG reimbursement optimization and re-bill within acceptable time frame.
  
• 
  Work closely with physician advisor regarding documentation issues.

Requirements:
- Associate's Degree
- 3 to 4 years related experience; supervisory and training experience strongly desired.
- Demonstrated communications and customer service skills, success in organizing work and ability to multi-task  
- Knowledge of ICD 9 CM, CPT coding, Out Patient coding, release of information, assembly and analysis
