Under general supervision, plans, develops, implements, supervises, and evaluates programs of assigned departments. Represents Kaiser Permanente in community. Assists in Health Plan activities. Provides member/patient services. Implements specific programs to increase membership and enhance fee-for-service revenue. Maintains open communications with counterparts and staff. Recommends and implements changes to continually enhance Quality-of-Service Program. Coordinates administrative assistance to physicians and supervisors. Serves as role model.
Essential Functions:
Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate; administers collective bargaining agreements and other written policies
Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff
Determines staffing needs and patterns; establishes priorities and assigns work to assure effective performance within time schedules; ensures orientation and training for all assigned staff related to service procedures, techniques, and equipment usage
Liaisons with physician-in-charge and area clinics and specialties to assure adequate staffing
Oversees daily operations of assigned departmental programs relating to assuring adequate appointment supply; oversees daily space planning and general facility concerns and related communication
Prepares annual budgetary forecasts for review; implements, audits, and controls approved budgets and fiscal responsibilities to assure effective utilization of manpower, material and supplies
Provides direct supervision of departments and other activities as assigned
Participates in community activities and represents Kaiser Permanente; maintains professional relationships with key business/community groups
Develops new, expanded, or modified services in area of responsibility; coordinates same with section head and necessary area and regional staff
Recommends and implements changes to continually enhance Quality-of-Service Program, including training programs, communications and other means; monitors progress of same within clinic area
Participates in all area staff activities
Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service
Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned
Secondary Functions:
Plans, develops, and coordinates programs/services designed to expand clinic's service capability and participates in marketing of services as necessary
Plans, develops, organizes, and coordinates long-range planning activity with area staff, including physician section leads and area physician-in-charge as applicable
Basic Qualifications:
Two years health care administration experience
One year management experience
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing or related field
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in customer service, interpersonal relations, oral communication, written communication, team building, teamwork, problem solving, quality management
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing PC applications
Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, on the telephone, and supervising others
Reading, writing, speaking, understanding English
Training/giving and receiving instructions
Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness
Preferred Qualifications:
Management experience in healthcare setting
Valid Hawaii RN License (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
